"El Cucuy"

"El Cucuy" is a live edge black walnut closed-form bowl.  Turned in St. Anne, the black walnut was sourced from Mokena, IL.  This bowl was a little scary to hollow, sand and finish at high speeds due to the tapered opening and natural bark....which is why I thought it would be appropriately named after the boogeyman himself, legendary UFC fighter - ("El Cucuy") Tony Ferguson.

"El Cucuy" was sanded to 320 grit, then sealed with sanding sealer.  Polished with Yorkshire Grit, finished with high gloss polyurethane and buffed to a matte finish.

This bowl was turned, sealed and finished while wet and is relatively thick and heavy.  Because of this, I expect it to most likely warp and crack a bit as it dries over a long period of time, which will add to the "scariness" and unique look of this one of a kind piece.
