Meet "Benny" - One of a kind 15.5" x 2.75" Black Walnut Platter

I turned this one of a kind black walnut platter on 1/6/2024 in Saint Anne.  This is the largest item I've turned to date and was a real challenge as the wood has lots of character (cracks, insect tunnels and a little rot).

This is perfect for holding fruit on an island or table and is a real conversation piece.

This platter was named after UFC lightweight contender Beneil "Benny" Dariush because he is a Christian and is consistently praising Jesus...and because of the crack running through this large blank, I was praying to Jesus and praising His Name when it held together to the end of the turning!

Sealed with sanding sealer and several coats of shellac.  Happy to deliver locally.
