Meet "The Killa Gorilla" - named after UFC middleweight, Jared Cannonier.  As all of my Signature Series wood turnings, this one is named after an MMA fighter, specifically after Jared Cannonier because like him - this vase started out as a heavyweight and slimmed down to it's final form as a middleweight - where it saw it's best days.

I made this stunning vase out of a large piece of salvaged black walnut from my childhood home in Carlinville, IL.  The piece of wood had a natural void through the middle of it and had cracking throughout before I started turning it.

It was finished using a 3 day finishing process consisting of boiled linseed oil, cellulose sanding sealer, polishing with yorkshire grit and finally finished with 8 coats of clear gloss lacquer.

Turned Dimensions approximately  10" height x 9" diameter.

As you can see in the images, this item has cracks running throughout it and may continue to develop cracks as the wood finishes drying.
