Ebonized Mystery Wood Vase signed by Artist - Handmade by Illinois Woodturner Shane Boland - 12.4" tall x 5.3" diameter - Tall Modern Vase

I made this mystery wood vase (I believe it is ash) in July 2024 from a section of a very large piece of mystery wood I bought in Kankakee this summer.

The vase measures 12.4" tall and 5.3" in diameter.  **PLEASE NOTE:  this vase is only hollowed about 1/2 the way down so it's more of an art piece than a functional vase.**

I lightly textured and then ebonized the outside of the vase with a combination of black stain, navy stain, boiled linseed oil, Yorkshire Grit, microfiber Yorkshire Grit and finished with 8 coats of clear gloss lacquer.  The inside of the vase beautifully contrasts the outside and was coated with boiled linseed oil and finished with 8 coats of lacquer.
