"Joe B Wan Kenobi" - Black Locust Live Edge Bowl

Meet "Joe B Wan Kenobi", a black locust Live edge bowl made by local woodturner, Shane Boland in Saint Anne, IL. This black locust bowl has a little bit of everything: live edge bark, a little moss on the bark, beautiful pencil spalting, some quilting or chatoyancy, a little bark inclusion and a couple of small piths. If purchased, I'm happy to deliver within Kankakee County. The black locust used to make this bowl was salvaged from becoming firewood. A large downed limb at one of my neighbors houses near Aroma Park was given to me instead of being hauled off to the burn pile. This piece is names after UFC veteran Joseph Benavides, who has 5 or 6 nicknames (so more v shaped bowls to come)....and is a big brother to "The Beefcake", another V-shaped black locust bowl named after JB because he is always sporting a v-neck t-shirt. This bowl was sealed with sanding sealer and finished with high gloss polyurethane. It may crack or warp over time as it was not completely dry when turned.
