"Big Country"

The "Big Country" Bowl is an extra large Live Edge Bur Oak Bowl and is part of the Beard's Signature Series.  It was the second piece of bur oak turned from a couple of truckloads of bur oak given to the Beard by someone in the neighborhood who had a very old oak tree taken down.  The base of this tree was 5-6' in diameter.  It must have been hundreds of years old.  The Beard is very thankful to have been gifted such beautiful wood!

The "Big Country" Bowl  was turned and finished wet and is expected to shift a little as it finishes drying.  It was turned relatively thin (1/2") and contains no pith so hopefully it won't crack but may warp a little.    This bowl was named after one of Sensei's least favorite fighters (Roy "Big Country" Nelson) because of it's large round shape....well....if you don't know, just google him and you'll see.  :-)
