Black Walnut #11 - Large Fruit Bowl

Black Walnut #11 - Large Fruit Bowl.  I turned this bowl on Jan 1, 2024 while still green which has caused the bowl to warp a bit.  It may continue to warp a little more over time as the bowl equalizes moisture content to its environment.

The black walnut wood was generously given to us by some local family in Kankakee County.

The sapwood of the inside of the bowl has darkened a bit as more coats of finish were applied, so it's not as clean white looking as in the video.

This bowl was sealed with 6 coats of shellac and finished with 4 coats of varnish.  Once fully cured, it will be food safe.
