"The Carpenter"

Meet "The Carpenter". This Butternut (White Walnut) Bowl is part of the Beard's Signature Series items that are absolutely unique and one-of-a-kind works of art. This piece started out intending to be a large salad bowl, however the wood had other plans. Because the beautiful wood had been sitting on the ground for a little too long in the elements, there was a section of rot that I had to chase and eventually needed to chisele out about 2/3 of the mass of the bowl blank. The end result was this amazing spalting and not very much of a salad bowl shape. :-)This wood was given to the Beard by a kind FB stranger from Bourbonnais who said it was beautiful wood and didn't want to see it burned. "The Carpenter" is named after UFC veteran with Hall of Fame honors, Clay "The Carpenter" Guida....who I once saw in person at a UFC even in Cincinnati (side note).Polished with Yorkshire Grit and Finished Linseed Oil / Beeswax Combination
